Oklahoma State University
Esports Arena
During my time in Student Union Marketing, I had the opportunity to be involved in the creation of the Esports Arena, a new venture at Oklahoma State University. Esports competitions are an increasingly popular media, and we wanted to capitalize on that by producing an option for students and the community.
The project started with trips to other campuses across the United States, looking to see what worked best across the board. While undergoing this, I was learning a new medium for me — 3D design. Using Blender 3D, I was able to make early drafts for when manufacturing this space began. I took feedback from the construction manager and members of the team, and created the designs you see. This was a challenge that I was able to overcome and the problems I faced learning this new art form was enticing.
The esports arena opened up officially in the Spring of 2020. During the opening day, I supervised our first official live stream from the broadcast production space that I helped create.
ACUI Steal This Idea
2017-2021
During my time with the Student Union Marketing team, I regularly competed in the Association of College Unions International’s Steal This Idea competition. This is a national competition between college campuses, to share their ideas, marketing, and bring in fresh ideas to other colleges and universities.
I competed in every year from 2017 to 2021. For the 2017, 2019 and 2020 competitions, I placed as 3rd or honorable mention. The videos were primarily to focus on specific events upcoming for our Activities Board, but also branched out to general promotion of the Student Union overall.
